What is Collegeworks?
Collegeworks is an accelerated learning program, designed to accomplish an Associate in Arts or Bachelor of Arts degree without the expense and time that a traditional college campus requires. It is also a means for students seeking a traditional college experience to complete their degree in a shorter amount of time, by earning credit for entry level courses with CBE and then transferring into a traditional college or university .
Who is Collegeworks For?
Anyone who wants to earn a degree at an accelerated rate and anyone who wants to earn and store college credit for their future degree program. High school students are welcome to sign up for their choice of subject. Parents are also welcome to join in and earn credit towards their degree. Credits are banked until they are transferred to the college of choice. One example of the acceptability of CBE is that the CLEP exam is accepted by 2900 colleges and universities which will grant credit or advanced standing.
What is Accelerated Distance Learning?
Accelerated distance learning, or ADL is a method to complete a degree at an accelerated pace through credit by examination, portfolio assessment, traditional and online classes. Collegeworks students use the principles of ADL to complete approximately one major exam every two weeks earning three to six credits per exam towards their degree. This will result in a degree in a shorter amount of time and with less expense than a traditional college program.
How does Collegeworks assist and provide Accelerated Distance Learning?
Collegeworks offers several ways to assist the student in completing their degree program.
* College planning is available for a one-time fee ($75.00)if a student wants to do ADL on his/her own. We also provide a Full Length Planning/Coaching, which has two options – see below for more information.
* Collegeworks provides instruction and preparation to earn credit by examination. This instruction comes in the form of a recording that is downloadable. You purchase the recording from our website www.homeschoolworks4u.comand you have one month to complete the course which consists of 8 module. It has approximately 15-20 hours of instruction for each course by a qualified instructor. The student then can go to a college or university and take the exam. Check our website for courses that are available.
* Instruction with a Biblical worldview will encourage and challenge the student spiritually. All course are downloadable for a one time fee.
* Collegeworks will provide a safe, moral learning environment to prepare them for the future.
What is Credit by Examination?
For many years now colleges have recognized credit by examination as one way to fulfill the requirements of a degree program. CBE basically involves taking tests that are viewed as the completion of certain college courses. There are several varieties of CBE, CLEP (College Level Examination Program) being the most common. DANTES, AP, and TECEP testing are other varieties of CBE. Most of the exams are multiple-choice computerized tests and are scored upon completion of the exam. You take the exam at a local college or uniersity.

2) Everyone has different goals for higher education. It is your responsibility to contact the college of your choice to make sure that the institution accepts the CBE for credit. Each college also has different score requirements for a passed class that will receive credit. This will be done for you as part of the college planning session. (see above)
