Course Description:
The goal of Midworks Art is to provide an atmosphere of creativity with exposure to various mediums and materials. The class emphasizes art both to and for the glory of God. It is a fun and creative outlet full of experimentation and imagination.
Midworks Art is a three-year rotational study. Each year the class alternates between Art Through the Ages, A Look at Artists, and American Art History. The first year, Art Through the Ages focuses on art history with a corresponding project each week. Students learn how art has been used throughout history to this present time. The second year, A Look at Artists, focuses on various artists and their styles. The class uses a variety of mediums allowing students to pattern their own creations after these artists. In the third year, American Art History, students focus on a variety of artistic works from America’s past and create parallel projects with each lesson. Students will discover how many of the artists wanted God to be seen and glorified in their work.
Grading is based on participation, attitude, cooperation, and completion of work. There is no homework for this class.
